What are the differences between UHV, high pressure and UHV?
In fact, in addition to high pressure and UHV, there is also a kind of UHV, so what is the difference between these three? First of all, we are clear that the voltage must be different.
Under normal circumstances, power supplies with a voltage of 250 volts and above, and power supplies with a voltage of 3000 to 11000 volts in industry, we all call them high-voltage power.
UHV is considered to have a pressure exceeding 100 MPa, while UHV refers to the voltage level of 800 kV and above DC and 1000 kV and above AC.
Secondly, they are applied in different fields. High voltage is the transmission and distribution lines in the power system, such as high-voltage towers, substations, or centralized electricity consumption.
Ultra-high pressure is used in food processing and sterilization, and it will not damage the nutrients of food like high temperature sterilization.
The UHV DC transmission is mainly used for ultra-long-distance and ultra-large-capacity transmission in my country's southwestern large hydropower base and northwest coal power base.
Why does my country have to develop UHV transmission technology?
However, before our country, both the former Soviet Union and the United States have conducted research and development on UHV technology, and the results have not been successful without exception. Why should our country insist on research and development when everyone gives up?
In fact, it is also forced by helplessness. China is a country with a vast territory, but energy is not considered abundant. Therefore, it takes care of the development of clean energy such as solar, wind, and hydropower. However, these resources are still unevenly distributed. So, why does UHV transmission technology use direct current?
However, we found that in the past, we used alternating current for high-voltage transmission, while UHV transmission technology was direct current. Do you know why?
The knowledge from the student days tells us that the current and voltage in DC power are relatively stable, and the size and direction are not easy to change. It is precisely because of this characteristic that DC UHV transmission can achieve high transmission capacity and high voltage. .
To transmit the same power of electricity, DC UHV transmission only needs 1 or 2 wires, while AC power must be 3 wires, and the loss of DC power is small.
